CHUDI EKWEMALOR, PhD, MBA, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Chudi Ekwemalor is a board-certified psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner and an assistant professor of clinical nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Cizik School of Nursing. He is an advanced practice registered nurse who has practiced across the nursing spectrum from licensed vocational nurse to the current advanced practice registered nurse level over the last 15 years which included a full time academic position in the last three years, where he is helping to nurture the next generation of nurses. His previous nursing practice was mostly in psychiatric facilities where he encountered and participated in providing care to numerous clients with varied mental health disorders.
Dr. Ekwemalor earned his doctorate, master’s, and a post-master’s degree in psychiatric and mental health nursing, all from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Cizik School of Nursing. He obtained his baccalaureate nursing degree from Prairie View A & M University, College of Nursing also in Houston, Texas. He is a member of the Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Houston, American Psychiatric Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Texas Nurses Association, and the Sigma Global Nursing Excellence Society. His practice goals align with those of the Solace Center; to provide the highest quality comprehensive outpatient mental health care that is individualized, compassionate, respectful, culturally sensitive, and collaborative using evidenced based techniques and modalities to promote mental health and wellness across the lifespan. His research interests center on the vulnerable population of individuals with mental health disorders, minorities, and immigrants. Dr. Ekwemalor is married with children and enjoys watching games and nature.
